Year 7 French program of study
The year 7 French program of study is divided into six modules.
In module 1, students learn:
- to introduce themselves and to use the pronouns je and tu
- to count up to 20 and to use the verb ‘avoir’ to give their age
- the alphabet, name classroom objects and use un/une
- to say when their birthday is
- to talk about objects in the classroom and use le/la
- to describe colours and make adjectives agree with nouns
In module 2, students learn:
- to talk about family, friends and pets
- to describe themselves and other people, talk about hair and eyes
- to use the possessive adjectives; mon, ma, mes
- to understand singular and plural adjective agreements
- continue to use the verb ‘avoir’
In module 3, students learn:
- to talk about where people live
- describe their home and bedroom
- use the je and tu forms of the verb “habiter”
- use simple prepositions
- Use the pronouns on, ils, elles
- tell the time and say what they do in the evening
In module 4, students learn:
- to talk about places in town
- to ask questions using “Est-ce qu’il y a?”, ask for direction
- understand the difference between “tu” and “vous”
- express opinions and order drinks and snacks
In module 5, students learn:
- to talk about their daily routine
- to talk about school subjects and time table
- to talk about what they do in the mornings and after school
- to use reflexive verbs, use intensifiers and connectives
- to give opinions and reasons
- understand and compose a longer text
- to use the verb “faire”.
In module 6, students learn:
- to talk about sports, games and musical instruments
- to say what they like to do in their free time
- to talk about holidays and leisure centres
- to use the verbs “aller” and “aimer” + infinitive
- to use ‘on peut + infinitive
