To take part in one of your French lessons online, you will need the followings:
Computer: You need access to a computer capable of running current software and web browsers. Anything that was new in the past three years should be fine. As a general guideline, your computer must be running Windows ME, 2000, or XP, or Mac OSX. You can also access your lessons using iPads, Android tablets or even your iPhone or Smart phone.
Internet Access: Students will also need to have access to the internet.
Web Browser: A web browser is a software program that allows you to view internet content. Different web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome are available. E-French Tuition Online is however best viewed using Firefox. Firefox can be downloaded here for free.
Word processing and presentation Softwares: These will also be required for learning activities and completing assignments on the course. These softwares are available as a ‘package’ with Microsoft Office (Windows and Mac), but a free alternative is also possible with Open Office (Windows, Mac and Linux) or iWork (Mac only).
Microphone/headset: The course will contain live tutorials sessions. To participate in these sessions, you will need a microphone/headset. We recommend an USB-based microphone and headset such as this Logitech Headset but other standard microphone-headset arrangements are supported and should work fine. This is however not needed if your computer/laptop has a built-in microphone.
A USB flash drive: This will be needed to store your work as you will need to keep copies of your work; saving it on your hard drive is an option but it is advisable to also save your work on a memory stick. . The SanDisk Cruzer Blade is the most reliable and affordable device that I have ever used.
